5 Positive’s on an August Day

Ok, I’m gonna put my 5 Positive things out there today.  I notice I write many in my journal, but I’m gonna put this out on my bloggie blog:

1.  Jane, my sister, and I made these delicious Jamacian Veggie Patties by   scratch. They were delicious.  Mom kept calling them empenadas.  She liked them and she doesn’t even like ethnic food, so we did a good job.

2.  I did 45 minutes on the elliptical machine,burning 460 calories.

3.  I flew a kite today with Josie

4.  I enjoyed watching the closing  ceremony of the Olympics 2012 with my family and holding baby Thomas.

5.  I made my very first frittata this morning, inspired by my friend Joel.  The trick is to cook on medium heat.

Palm Springs, California

So, I’m in Palm Springs, California for a little bit.  My little sister had her 2nd baby.  He is adorable.  His name is Thomas.  What a cutie pie.  I love being with my family.

I have been a traveling fool this summer.  I feel so lucky, blessed and blissed.  I may not be rich in money but sure am rich in experiences.  Bahamas with my best friend, Hilton Head with family and celebrating my birthday, Yogaville in Virginia at a kids camp, Isle of Palms and Folly Beach, SC with the Sol Driven Train guys.

Palm Springs is hot.  My I-phone says its 111 degrees, but I feel like its 137 degrees out there.  Too funny.  Life is a bit more laid back here, due to its too hot to do anything outside.  Also, I don’t have a car.  But, I am about to start checking things out.  I want to check out the Bingo Lounge at Ace Hotel, I want to go on the Tram before I leave and go find a yoga class.

Downtown Palm Springs boasts a 26 foot statue of Marilyn Monroe.  She is lovely.  I had to go and check her out.

5 Positive Happy Things for Today

So there are days where I just get extremely sad and depressed or hear negative things that get me down.  But, I just have to remember that I am perfect the way I am .  You are perfect the way you are.  We make mistakes and we need to learn from them and move on.  I have been doing a daily practice, inspired by my friend Jill, and every night before I go to bed, I list 5 Positive and Happy things that happened in my day.

1.  I got to babysit my sweet friend Jo Jo today.  He has been my Tuesday evening date and I just adore him soo much.  Jo Jo teaches me so much.

My “boyfriend” Jo Jo

2.  It was raining and pouring today and I made myself a cup of coffee and put a scoop of almond milk vanilla ice cream in it and sat out on the porch and listened to the pitter patter of the rain hitting the earth.

3.  I have ran 3 days in a row and it makes me feel good in my body.

4.  I am embracing change in my life and know things are just getting better and better for me.

5.  I talked to my mom today and she told me she was looking forward to our daily walks together when we are out in California visiting my sister together.

Summer Extravaganzas…………..

Camp Yogaville

Has it really been 2 months since I have come to visit my blog???  Oh my goodness.  This Summer has been a whirlwind.  In June, I went to Camp Yogaville to hang with kids, teach them music and play music for the kids while they were in Yoga class.  I was also part of the kitchen staff preparing vegetarian meals for 60 people everyday.  Camp Yogaville is in Virginia on the James River.  I had such a wonderful time, however I did get bitten by a spider and had to go to the hospital because the bite got really swollen.  At Urgent Care, I asked the doctor to pop the bite and he said, “NO”, that would not be a good idea.  So, he wrote me a prescription for antibiotics and sent me on my way.  As soon as I got into my car I popped the darn swollen spider bite myself and finally felt relief.  I did experience a heavy cold with coughing and sore throat afterwards, but made it through.  I must have an allergic reaction to spider bites.  This was not my first bite in my life.  But oh well……

In July, I went to the Bahamas to celebrate my best friend Heather’s 40th birthday.  We did it in style.  She rented a house and a boat and we got to explore all the islands of Abaco in Northern Bahamas.  We snorkeled, hauled butt in a boat, drank rum drinks, and swam in turquoise seas.  It was beautiful and breathtaking.

Kids at the Fest

The French Broad River Festival in Hot Springs was sooo much fun.  I had a blast.  I did my solo show with Ben Scales backing me up on guitar.  Then out of the blue came Georgie and Andy Pond and all the kids came up when I sang Babies on the Lawn.  Also Joel Timmons from Sol Driven Train played percussion.  What a great time.    Photo taken by Patricia Ricmond

That festival is so perfect, hanging out with all the buddies and listening to great music.  I love the mighty river right by the Festival grounds.

Happy Monday Yall……………

Home Body Love

Hey Everyone.  I realize I have not been on my blog in a long long time.  I have been spending a lot of time home just chilling out.  Relaxing in my little sanctuary.  I love hangin in my home and walking around my neighborhood.  Life is delicious.  One of these days I will bust a move and get some fun stories out here on this blog.

I’ve been in kind of a rut lately, but I got acupuncture for the first time today to realign my chi.  So let the good times roll.  Ha ha……….

Love you guys.

Thank you for another day

Good morning my beautiful friends out there.  Its another day in paradise.  Another day that we can invent and start all over.  How lucky are we, that we can choose to make the most of every day.  Even if we have to go to work, or we are sick or we are doing something we don’t want to do but have to.  We can surround ourselves with loved ones, pets, trees, flowers, gardens….. or if you are not with anybody, you can be happy being with yourself.  Loving yourself is the Best, because we are our own best friend from the beginning to the end.  We just gotta find our own joy.

I have been so blessed to be extremely busy with doing what I love….. playing and teaching music.  I spent the last part of March at the Flat Rock Playhouse doing a Patsy Cline Tribute.  Also, I have been teaching kids ukulele and fiddle.  This past weekend, I went to West Virginia with my Snake Oil boys.

Life is good and hectic and I am still trying to have a vacation everyday.

Much Love,

Not as extrememely happy as I was on tour, but oh well……..

So, I have been back for 5 days in my Asheville home and I got to be honest with you.  I am not even having near as much fun as I was having on tour.  I gotta get geared up and remember that life is awesome even if Im not on vacation or tour.  Tourcation.  Its been real tough readjusting.

Hey, I will be planning more tours so if you want a house concert or you know a venue that needs me.  Hollah….

OK, well I am off to work, do laundry, wash dishes, make smoothies, work out and vacuum and to find my bliss again.  Ha ha.

Pass-a Grille is Paradise

I have found myself in paradise on Earth.  I am in the southern most tip of St. Pete, Florida in a place called Pass-a-Grille.  Thanks soo much Ben and Cate, Virginia and Ed for letting me stay here.

This tour has been soooo incredible on sooo many levels.  The house party at Ian and Susan’s house was amazing.   Love those people sooo much.

Also getting to play with Ben Scales for the last 3 shows has been stellar.
