Rafting the Ocoee River and Barry’s Tiki Bar

Yesterday, I got to tag along with the Watershed crew and whitewater raft down the Ocoee River in Tennesee.

We swam, shot some rapids and ate some yummy dagwood sandwiches with avocado, peppers, tomatoes, cukes, cheese and hummus.  I had a blast going down those rapids and Justyn was such a good teacher/ guide.  I trust him BIG time.

After our river adventures we stopped at a guy named Barry’s house in Dillsboro, North Carolina.  Barry has a really cool artsy tiki bar on the river that he made and has decorated with all the treasures that he finds washed up on the shore.    Anything that washes down the river he attaches it to the tiki hut in a folk art style, so there are tons of single flip flops, softballs, baby doll heads, paddles, colorful glass, skulls, etc.  Very cool.  I felt like I was in Jamaica at a yard party.  Rasta music was blaring in the tiki hut and later on a reggae dj artist stopped by and was spinning his beats.

An update on my ear ache.  It is indeed an ear infection, so the doctor has put me on antibiotics for 10 days.  I am going to get through this soon.  Within 48 hours I should be receiving relief.

Well I am off to load in the Snake Oil van now.  We are going to Greensboro, North Carolina to play a gig at the Blind Tiger.

Have a wonderful weekend folks.  Thanks for stopping by.
