Summer Solstice Bliss Baby

Folks thanks soooooo much for stopping by to read my little blog/journal.  I am so blessed that I have sooo many friends out here, that come by for a visit.  How is everybody???  Are you happy Summer is finally here?????

photo taken by Justyn Thompson. I may use this photo for my upcoming album release

I feel like I have been dry on my posts lately.  Not much music going on right now.  Snake Oil Medicine Show is taking a brief hiatus, because brother Andy Pond and his wife Nicole are expecting a baby this month.  So, that is extremely exciting.

But, in reality, when I stop to think about it, things aren’t really that dry around here.  I have been diggin in the dirt like a mad woman on our land.   Its like, things are opening up for me on the food front, permaculture world.  Its amazing, that I can grow food and there are no Ingles Trucks bringing it to me.  I can go eat fresh salad every day from my garden and pick a squash or some blueberries.  In a few days, I will be able to harvest cucumbers and tomatoes.   My dreams are coming true in front of my very own eyes.  I feel like I am getting awakened.

Its almost Summer Solstice of 2010.  Wow!!!!!!!!! What a year.  I cant believe how long I have been living on this Earth and seeing all its changes.  For better of for worse, I am soooo glad I am here to weather all the storms and the sunny weather.  I feel blessed.  Thank you Universe, family, Justyn, friends and God Above.

Happy Summer Solstice.

Earthday Weekend

My weekend was jam packed with fun and music.  I was busy as can be but loved it.  Sometimes I feel like I spread myself thin but that is how I roll.  Today is Monday and I am going to take it easy.

Snake Oil Medicine SHow on Earth DaySaturday I woke up early and headed to the Asheville Earth Day Festival located at MLK Park.  I played with the Pond Farm Pickers, which is really Snake Oil Medicine Show, but we had to change up the name a bit because we are in a contract to play another festival in a couple of weeks.  So George, Andy, Billy and I had a 12:45 slot and just rocked it.  I had a super duper blast.  The weather couldn’t be any better and the highlight for me was singing my song “Babies on the Lawn” and actually seeing babies playing on the lawn.  So cute.   The food backstage for the artists was fantastic.  It was hosted by Rosetta’s, they served up tofu curry and vegetables and brown rice.  That was some vibrational yummy food.  Also someone brought over some pastries and I had a cute little ball of dough and ate it and thought it was delicious.  Later to find out it was a sausage ball.  Arghhh.  THis vegetarian girl almost freaked me out, but I kept my cool.  Ha ha..

Later that afternoon I met up with my buddy Ben and we played at the Montford Inn for the guests for about an hour and drank chardonnay.  That was fun then I walked over to Ben and Cate’s house and sipped on more wine and laughed and laughed with them.

Sunday morning I woke up and went out to breakfast with Justyn and then we went to buy more plants to put in our garden.  Then I met my lovely bandmate, Ami at my house and we practiced some Sugar & Spice tunes and then sat in the hot tub before I had to head into work.   I worked came home and then we had to put sheets in the garden because of a frost warning.

That was my amazing weekend in a nutshell.  HAPPY MONDAY.  Yeee Haw.

Heading to the Doo………

Its time to head back out on the road again.  We are driving down to Seale, Alabama where its gonna be 70 degrees and beautiful.  We are going to a folk art and music festival called Doonanny.  I am excited.  Sugar & Spice are gonna play there.  Yahoo.

I love that Spring is in the air.  I have sooo many projects to do its not even funny.  But I’d rather have too many than none at all.  And now I am off for a fun trip.

Happy Weekend folks.

I Heart Sugar & Spice

Last night I had a blast with Ami Worthen.  She is one of my dearest sweetest friends.  We hang through thick and through thin.  We have jammed our way through Jamaica, Louisiana, Florida, North Carolina and many other places.  This is a shout out to Ami, I love you!!!!!!!!   And,  I love Sugar & Spice.  I hope that we jam well into our 90′s.  We recorded 2 of our songs last night with Jason Krekel and we just had a blast.  Stay tuned for more Sugar & Spice to play in your area.

Sugar & Spice Backstage Video

Live footage, just in from the Ukulele Rockstar.  Sugar & Spice practice backstage at The French Broad River Fest.  ”Lighthouse Keeper”. The most common question we get is, who is Sugar and who is Spice?  I reply, “guess?” and most of our fans think that this is a trick question.  Ha ha.  Caroline Pond is Sugar and Ami Worthen is Spice.  Just in case you need to know.  Without further ado, here is the video.

French Broad River Fest

To all the folks and musicians of the French Broad River Fest, you ROCK…..  I had a total blast.  Emceeing was so much fun.  I was super duper busy.  However Karl Beesun, an emcee himself, and WNCW radio announcer helped support me a bit.  Some highlights for me, were throwing Will Ferrell loofah dolls out in the crowd.  So random.  One of the volunteers in the backstage area had 192 of these loofahs that she wated me to get rid of.  Too funny.

Also Sugar & Spice (Ami Worthen and I) got to get up on stage to play some of our tunes. That was amazing for me.  I love our Sugar & Spice Band.  Snake Oil Medicine Show jammed it out on the Flood Stage.  What a hoot.  Mad Tea Party kicked some butt. Jen and the Juice rocked my face off.  I really enjoyed all the bands so much.  Trapeze aerial stunts and fire dancers was amazing as well.a very random Will Ferrel Loofah doll

I also had a chance during some of my downtime to meditate by the roaring French Broad River.   What an amazing weekend.  I was so busy I did not even get to take photos.  So here is a pic of the Will Ferrell Loofah head that got thrown out in the crowd.  Well, I gotta run.  I am super duper busy in the Snake Oil office this Monday morning, so more blogging later.  Cheers and much Love.
