Street Pickin’ in French Quarter Fest

I still can’t believe how fast our trip went by in New Orleans.  Aint it the truth,  when you are having fun, time really does fly.

We stayed at our friend Eric and Stephanie’s house and these are some of the pictures that Stephanie took of us while we are walking around.  She also captured shots from when I was pickin’ on the streets.

Another funny thing is that I ran into a fiddle playing guy named Matt Rhody that I jammed with 5 years ago, when Snake Oil Medicine Show played in New Orleans.  We had fun playing some songs on the street together.

In the Middle of the Big Easy

So far folks, I am having an amazing time in New Orleans.  Walking the streets of downtown and seeing tons and tons of awesome music, dancing,  amazing architecture, balconies and stiff drinks.  Goodness me, this town is hoppin’ and New Orleans has some soul.  You can see areas from the devastation still from Hurricane Katrina and it breaks my heart, but this town seems to be on the mend and is so alive.  As humans we are a surviving, pick yourself up by the bootstraps type of people.  You can really see that in the people of New Orleans.   It amazes me seeing all the folks coming together to listen to music and to celebrate life.   New Orleans is a special kind of city.

More stories later, I am off to shower and then to get some nice coffee and a breakfast somewhere.
